Two animal lovers who met on the beach in Mirissa in February 2024. Sharing the same interests, values, and goals, we haven’t stopped talking since then :).
The sun was too hot, but my mood had hit freezing point. Thirsty and tired, walking back to the hotel from Secret Beach in Mirissa, I couldn’t decide if — and with which company — I should do the whale watching tour. The offers were confusing, prices varied, and the results from the same day differed from stand to stand. Slowly giving up, I decided to talk to every whale watching provider I met along the way.
I stopped at Samin’s beach office. Seeing me standing there with my long freediving fins and a 7kg backpack, he offered me a seat under his umbrella. After sharing his water and chocolate with me, I was more than happy to stay and talk about whales and animals.
Update from 2025: I finally saw three blue whales — once a huge female, and then a female with her baby. Together with Samin and our team, I see a huge opportunity for the future: to show you the animals of Sri Lanka and the Maldives in an ethical and sustainable way. To teach about animals, protect our nature, and build a community that will carry the message forward.

After spending 15 years living and working in Vienna, Austria, I’ve now returned to Poprad. It took me 32 years to finally begin living my dreams — spending more time doing what I truly love: freediving and exploring wildlife.

Founder, Tour Guide & Captain38 years old and born in Mirissa, I started my journey as a fisherman many years ago. Over time, I made the decision to stop taking from the ocean and instead fell in love with whales and the beauty of observing these incredible animals. My father passed down his deep knowledge of the Indian Ocean, and today, I’m passionate about sharing that experience with anyone eager to learn and connect with the sea.
We are part of this place, not only visitors.
